Waikato Rugby announces new partnership with Lightwire to drive the development pathway of Men’s rugby.

Waikato Rugby are pleased to announce a new partnership with internet providers, Lightwire, as both organisations work together to support the development of young rugby talent in the Waikato region.

This new partnership will see Lightwire become the naming rights sponsor of the Men’s Pathway programme.

Lightwire provides internet to the rural community. The concept came about when a couple of computer enthusiasts in rural Waikato were so frustrated by slow or no internet that they decided to fix it and close the rural connectivity gap.

Speaking about the new partnership, Waikato Rugby Commercial Manager, Hannah Grainger, said “We are thrilled to have Lightwire come on board as a partner for our Men’s Pathway Programme. Their support will be crucial in helping us to provide the resources and opportunities that our young rugby players need to reach their full potential.”

Head of Rural, Mike Cook, echoed Grainger’s comments, saying “We are thrilled to be partnering with Waikato Rugby to support their Men’s Pathway Programme. We are passionate about supporting our local and rural communities, and this partnership is a fantastic opportunity for us to give back and be a part of helping the development of the next generation of rugby stars from this region.

Culture is important to us, so this is why we are aligning our business (Lightwire) with Waikato Rugby, as we believe both organisations share the same values and thrive to improve.”

The partnership between Waikato Rugby and Lightwire is a testament to the organisations’ shared commitment to supporting the development of young talent. As the Men’s Pathway Programme continues to grow and flourish, this partnership will play a vital role in helping Waikato Rugby to achieve our goals and build a brighter future for rugby in the Waikato region.
