In what was a special occasion at Cambridge High School Wednesday evening, the home side been crowned Secondary School Girls Champions for 2023. Getting home 15-10 in what was a tight contest between our premier two sides in Vanessa Cootes Cup. 

Cambridge High started well and spent considerable time attacking the Hamilton Girls High School line – every time that defense stood up and stayed strong holding Cambridge out. A scrum 5meters from the goal saw Cambridge’s forward pack dominated up front and there was nothing the Hamilton girls could do to stop the dominate forward display with Cambridge crossing over for their first five pointer.

Cambridge scored twice more – both unconverted and led 15 nil early in the second half.

The was the spark that seemed to ignite the Hamilton Girls High side and they struck with two late tries to close the gap to 15-10 with only minutes remaining.

Cambridge held out and took home the Vanessa Cootes Cup and with it the title of the WSSRU Girls 1^st XV Champions in front of a massive home crowd.
